2012 Regional Conference Announcements
Region 1 – January 24 – 27 Palm Springs
The annual Region 1 conference will be held on January 24-27, 2013, in Palm Springs, California, in conjunction with the annual Consolidated Association of Pride (CAPI) confab. This four-day conference is the region’s leading venue for learning, sharing best practices, and collaboration on issues related to the LGBT equal rights movement, event planning and organizing. The conference features experts leading seminars and panel discussions on topical areas including bullying, aging, social change, event management, capacity building, grassroots engagement, and other aspects of advancing equal rights for all.
“We are honored our city can play host to this four-day conference for learning and collaboration on issues related to the LGBT equal rights movement,” said Stephen P. Pougnet, Mayor of Palm Springs. The city last hosted the political and cultural event in 2002. “Over the past decade, the City has experienced a major boom in tourism and special events,” said Mary Jo Ginther, Director of Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. “We look forward to welcoming all the attendees to enjoy the special festivities, our community and the unique Palm Springs style.”
